The method of generating pinhole image during ink printing

In the printing process, the pinhole phenomenon caused by ink printing is a headache for the staff engaged in screen printing. If it is the printing of opaque objects such as billboards and thick paper, this kind of small hole is not easy to observe, and generally does not become a problem. However, precision printing on some high-demand products on aluminum, glass, and acrylic boards requires pinholes when post-processing and corrosion processing are required. In addition, there are many reasons for pinholes in ink printing, many of which are currently unexplained, and some may be quality management issues. Pinhole exclusion of printed products is one of the more important inspection items in the inspection of printed products.

Below we analyze the pinhole appearance that often occurs during several ink printing processes:

1. Cleaning of the surface of the substrate. Aluminum plates, glass plates, acrylic plates, etc. should be printed immediately after pre-treatment before printing. In multicolor printing, a method of rubbing with alcohol before printing is generally employed. In addition, semi-automatic and fully automatic ultrasonic cleaners can be used. Pre-treatment removes dirt such as grease and, at the same time, removes dust adhering to the surface.

2. Dust and foreign matter attached to the plate. At the time of plate making, there will be some sol in the washing and developing. In addition, when the emulsion is applied, dust is also mixed in, and pinholes are formed by adhering to the screen. These can be found and repaired in time when the test is carried out. If dust and foreign matter adhere to the screen, blocking the screen opening can also cause pinholes. Before the official printing, if the ink-repellent paper is used, after several printings, the dust can be removed from the plate.

3, the detergent of the washing machine is often mixed with broken fiber, this detergent is dissolved in alcohol, when cleaning the surface of the substrate, a thin surfactant film is often formed, pinholes will occur when printing ink on the film . Therefore, pay special attention when using detergents and alcohol. When the substrate is handled by hand, the fingerprint of the hand is also attached to the printing surface, and pinholes are formed during printing.

The above-mentioned printing pinhole image can be eliminated by paying attention to it during the printing process, but due to the complexity of printing, many problems need to be dealt with in combination with reality.
