The conference, themed “Charismatic Information, Dynamic Wool,” brought together industry leaders, experts, and representatives from around the world. Du Fuzhou, President of the China Textile Industry Association, sent a congratulatory message to the event, praising its role in promoting the healthy development of the wool textile sector. He emphasized that the information exchange had helped regulate and improve the management of the domestic wool market, while also contributing to the establishment of a fair trade system and a robust platform for wool trade and communication. Attendees included high-level officials such as Zhou Xiaoyan from the Ministry of Commerce, Xiong Bilin from the National Development and Reform Commission, Shi Zongwei from the National Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, Xu Wenying from the China Textile Industry Association, Peng Yanli from the China Wool Textile Industry Association, and Shi Hongxiang from the National Development and Investment Corporation. Other notable participants included Mike Jackson from the Australian Wool Detection Authority, Duane Knowles from the New Zealand Wool Testing Authority, Gustavo from Uruguay’s LANAS, Peter Michell from Michel International Limited, and Yang Xiaoxiong from the Nanjing Wool Market. She also explained the conference theme, noting that it reflects the industry’s desire to meet changing market demands and unlock the full potential of wool products. Yang Xiaoxiong shared insights on recent wool trade developments, highlighting that despite a decline in May, import enthusiasm remained high. He noted that over 171,000 tons of raw wool were imported between January and July. However, challenges such as the importation of low-quality wool from Australia persisted. Zhang Haisen discussed China's free trade negotiations, suggesting that adjustments could help balance trade benefits between China and countries like Australia. He advocated for win-win solutions that support both sides. Representatives from Australia, New Zealand, and Uruguay provided updates on their respective wool industries. Michel International GmbH, with over 140 years of experience, has focused on China due to its growing wool processing capabilities. The event also featured an exhibition, the Second Wool High-Level Forum, a preparatory meeting for the China-Australia Wool Working Group, and a seminar on innovative wool semi-combing technology. These activities enriched the conference and provided a valuable platform for global companies to showcase their work and exchange ideas.
