Hey everyone! Today I’m excited to share a new project I’ve been working on—my take on the Liesl + Co. Hollywood Trousers. I originally sewed up a muslin version using a basic cotton drill, but as soon as those were done, I couldn’t stop thinking about making a fancier pair in wool crepe. Lucky for me, I had just the right fabric tucked away in my stash, patiently waiting for its moment to shine. For a touch of elegance, I paired the wool trousers with a metallic knit tank top inspired by a Guy Laroche Vogue pattern (V1399). A pair of heels later, and I was ready for a night out on the town. I didn’t make any adjustments to the trousers themselves—they fit perfectly right out of the box. Kudos to Liesl for designing something so spot-on! Now, if only I hadn’t run out of fabric halfway through, I might have tried my hand at copying a few details from some high-end ready-to-wear trousers I’ve admired. Moving the zipper to a side seam, replacing the waistband with a facing, and adding a sash would give these pants a whole new vibe. But alas, I’ll have to save that idea for next time—or maybe until my next shopping spree. In the meantime, I’ll be rocking these navy wool trousers to dinners, theater performances, and any formal occasion that isn’t a barbecue or picnic. For casual outings, though, my trusty cotton drill version will do just fine paired with a simple T-shirt and sandals. They’re surprisingly versatile!
