This invention relates to a method for manufacturing expanded beads. The process involves combining a base resin, which includes a polypropylene resin with a tensile modulus of at least 1,200 MPa, along with a colorant and a thermoplastic polymer that has a lower tensile modulus than the base resin. These components are thoroughly mixed to create a homogeneous kneaded mixture. Within this mixture, a matrix is formed from the base resin, while multiple domains—each containing both the thermoplastic polymer and the colorant—are dispersed throughout the matrix. Afterward, the mixture is processed into resin pellets. These pellets undergo surface modification through treatment with an organic peroxide, enhancing their ability to expand during foaming. When the modified pellets are foamed, they produce expanded beads with a distinct internal structure: an inner zone surrounded by a skin layer. Notably, the melting temperature of the surface region is lower than that of the inner core, which contributes to better control over the expansion process and improved bead quality.
