The DGFT stated in a notice: "With a permit, you can export cotton yarn. Now, you must issue cotton yarn export licenses in accordance with the fiscal year 2010-11 (end of March 31, 2011) of 720 million kilograms of export quota. ."
According to Poppys Group President A. Sakthivel said that the remaining amount is about 50 million kilograms, which can now be exported due to the government’s decision.
Industry insiders suggested to the government that in order to avoid a similar situation, the export of cotton yarn over 40s should be banned in the next fiscal year because the domestic market consumes more than 40s of cotton yarn. Even if exports are allowed, the export ceiling should be set on a monthly basis and the export status checked monthly.
